We are living in a storm of change. We experienced the Computer in the 1980s, the IoT at the beginning of the new century, the Steve Jobs Innovation program, the change towards e-mobility and today AI, robotics and self-driving cars.
Logistics, understood as a Global, integrated end2end Customer Supply Chain science, developed and supported many of above initiatives. Till today logistics in Germany, Europe and the World is a leading science to improve service, availability and growth for humanity. But… every science has its historical development cycles and unsolved issues, riddles and secrets (just remember Albert Einstein and the discussion of relativity versus quantum theory). Today logistics, in a stronger silo-definition, focusing on transportation in Global supply chains, networks and regional and local services has its open unsolved issues, riddles and secrets:
Logistics today can cope with global supply chains of air, sea and road freight but is not able o solve the local last mile. Traffic jams, long unproductive waiting and sitting times as well as bad or inefficient services are the reality of every-day life and business.
Although transport relates to all movements of people, goods or information the logistics industry is a hero in transportation of goods. Complete, integrated and efficient transportation management for people, goods and information is a myth, there are hundreds of parallel networks in a local of regional area, anywhere in the world. Especially the gap between information flow and multiple physical transports is substantial, often described as the “freedom of individuality”, which would never contradict a Global -efficient- logistics idea. Efficient networks need Global logistics excellence. Logistics missed out on this in the last 50 years.
The solution to rebuild the logistics from an integrated, efficient regional and local service excellence perspective is the core secret to improve business and life of humanity in the 21st century, the secret to build a new integrated logistics for all flows can be summarized in building a new mobility logistics.
Logistics companies can lead this process of change by creating a new MOBILITY-logistics. Logistics companies can start a DIGITAL Transformation program to become a true SUPER MOBILITYY POWER, changing logistics towards a new improvement level for humanity.
How does the mobility logistics look like?
Here there needs to be an understanding, that all changes are smooth in process (year after year) and disruptive in the consequence: Today the I-Phone or its copies have a monopoly in mobile communication and commerce, because a screen with fully integrated app display beats any other communication device. Mobility logistics needs to do the same:
Mobility logistics needs to cover all mobility logistics requirements for people, goods and information in a current infrastructure, with current technologies, with current IoT solutions and IT-Services.
Similar as the IoT we need to create a MoT, a Mobility of Things, which creates a Quantum Leap in the current, inefficient mobility. For reaching out for better mobility you need to start with markets and customers. Markets are the regions or local areas for a group of human citizens, we call it MOBILITY-area. Customers are all movements in this MOBILITY-area. Today we can structure customer services in:
C2C-Moblity services (Consumer to Consumer)
C2B-Mobility services (Consumer to business)
B2C-Mobility services (Business to Consumer)
B2B-Mobility Services (Business to Business)
Today there is a clear split between guided (or controlled) mobility logistics and unguided (individualized) mobility.
C2C-Mobility services are today completely unguided, we all start using a car or other transportation systems on demand, by coincidence and without evaluation costs. This is especially also true for C2B-Mobility services, where we create huge additional traffic due to inefficient transportation to shops, work or other activities (f. e. dining, sports, vacation). Due to unguided mobility we loose time, efficiency, live costly and are exploiting industrialized zones and countries or densely populated regions in a extremely polluted un-sustainable way. We are creating a human waste factor, which is destroying our habitats, local and regional areas, our earth in an extremely unprofessional, “non -intelligent” way. It is not a Homo Sapiens at work, but the individualistic “animal”, who wants to enjoy speed, luxury and freedom of choice without control.
The unguided mobility creates inhuman, global destruction which multiplies, if all regions in the world are developing to western standards. Vice versa western industrialized nations are creating this destruction with intent, if the question of a new mobility approach is not put forward in change and transformation in and driven by the IoT, changing towards MoT.
B2C- and B2B-mobility are on the other side guided, controlled mobility services, where logistics and E-Commerce companies are optimizing their network in customer service (on time, to date, returns, right quality) and costs. Guided can be expressed, identified by integrated TMS- (Transport Management Systems), Standard delivery fleets, Standard Packaging solutions and complete IT-Visibility by end2end tracking and tracing of customer- or business-orders.
Still guided mobility services are at the edge of further improvement, as the regional or local area is continuously influenced or swamped by unguided mobility services, which lead to inefficiencies in B2C- and B2B-Services. Additionally it creates the specialized guided mobility service a technology, which sub-optimizes its span of control, which can be seen in the technology development of trucks, the paper-based packaging industry and the Global-Supply Chain idea to create long logistics chains because of low cost production.
So further optimization reaches its end in current silo developments. The mobility approach we have built in the last 100 years reaches its end due to silo management and a missing global, cross-business approach for a new Super-mobility.

Super-Mobility describes the need to improve the current mobility in a local or regional (potentially global) area for people, business and humanity. Super-Mobility is the science how to plan, control and manage all C2C-, C2B-, B2C and B2B services in a local area or region.
